How to configure the season for your database

Filing away all of your information in organised groups will make your database a much friendlier place to visit. That’s why configuring the Season for your database is so important, particularly for those sports that run more than one season per year like Basketball and Touch Football.
The steps below outline how you can check what season configuration is applied to your database and what it all means.

To check your current Season settings:
1.    In your online database, click on the Configuration menu 
2.    Click on the Seasons menu
3.    Scroll down to the bottom of the page to locate the two drop down boxes shown below

Note: A number of sports have their Seasons set at a National Level and as such aren’t able to be changed at Association level.



The ‘Current Season’ drop down box should reflect the season that is currently being played out. 

The ‘New Registration Season’ drop down box should reflect what season you wish new members to register into. Then when your new members are created they automatically get assigned to the New Registration season meaning you don’t have to manually assign them to the correct season.

Keeping your seasons in check may seem like a clear-cut task, but it impacts on a number of aspects of your database. Without managing your Seasons correctly, a simple task such as finding when and where a member has played in the past becomes much more difficult than it should be.



As a matter of best practice, it is a good idea to check your Season configurations prior to new seasons beginning. This will ensure all members for the upcoming season are assigned to the right season and it should keep your data nice and clean!
