Are you ready for Facebook comments within your website?

Hi all,

For a very long time, SportingPulse have built commenting engines into our core software.  We actually did this back in 2000, but realised we were a fair way ahead of the curve.

With social networking and conversation so prevalent online now, we are looking to plug in to Facebook to again drive engagement through sites throughout the Network.

It is simple enough to do and we've polled a few users who are positive about this.  The benefits are that you engage discussion on social networks and in turn, those conversations drive people to your site.

At Step 1, we'd be looking to add a Facebook plug-in to your news pages, as follows:
Commenting to be added to all news pages

In Step 2, we'd like to add the same type of plug-in firstly to your summary results pages; and then ultimately to detailed results and stats.
Adding comments to match results
The positive thing about the way commenting has evolved over time and with the popularity of facebook is that users are easily trackable and people have invested time into social networks.  So, when it comes to commenting, it is clear that it is not under an alias or as guest or as 'anon'.

People know their comments are watched and the responsibilities around this.  There are also moderation tools, from not publishing profanity, through to community flagging of anything deemed offensive.

Let us know if you have any concerns.  Whilst we allow people to socialise scores and stats, its time we started to push forward on commenting on results and news on your websites.

We'd love to hear your feedback on this.

Cheers, Andrew

Support Website Refresh

With all the rebranding that is being rolled out with our product suite comes the need to realign and refresh our Support site. The Support Wiki has an enormous amount of content and as such we are looking to refresh it in a way that is consistent with the rest of our rebranding but also in a way that makes it easier to use and navigate through.

The Support Site currently shows our group of products listed by their previous alias.

The changes that will be on their way with the front page of the Support Site will see our products grouped together (with their SportingPulse names) as they are listed on the SportingPulse homepage.

So our key products as you know them and as listed on the Support Site will change as follows:

OLD PRODUCT NAME

NEW PRODUCT NAME

Sportzware Online

SportingPulse Competitions

Sportzware Online Membership

SportingPulse Membership

Sportzware Website

SportingPulse Standard Website

SmarterWeb Site

SportingPulse Elite Website

Online Registrations and Payments

SportingPulse Payments

As it is such an extensive site, the rebranding and formatting changes to the Support site will be steadily taking place from here on, so please be patient as we make our way through revamping the site. As always, if you’ve got any questions or get stuck with anything on the support site feel free to contact our support team.

Websites and SportingPulse Mobile updated

We've got a few more updates to the SportingPulse Network this week.

Websites
  • Fixed a bug that stopped users from sharing their results on Facebook if the competition name had quotes ("") in the title.
  • Cleaned up the other match scroller in detailed results/box score view. This includes adding date/time, fixed horizontal alignment, reduced initial display to 3, link hover and more consistent styling.

SportingPulse Mobile
  • Search results now display alphabetically
  • Added additional info to round names if a competition is in finals
These posts will hopefully become a weekly thing regardless of how big or small the changes are.
