Customise your site in fewer clicks

Howdy all,

Just a quick post today to let you know of a slight change we’ve made to the ‘Customise Your Website’ area of your SportingPulse website back-end.

We’ve cut out the middle step in this section so that you no longer need to click ‘Simple’ or ‘Advanced’ Customisation before then having to click into a third level of options. Instead, we’ve put the three Advanced items (Colours and Fonts, Page Headers and Other Configuration) straight into the main section.

Previously, the ‘Simple’ option allowed users to choose a theme for their site. Don’t worry, this is still available, however it is now accessible from within the Colours and Fonts area. We think this makes more sense given that a Theme selection only changes the colours of your site and nothing else.

We trust this subtle change will be well received – it should cut down the number of clicks required to customise your site, which we think can only be a positive J

  1. The website is great, apart from the side banners that have appeared recently...they really detract from the smart look of the sites. I am a contributor to a number of basketball sites that looked very good until the banners messed it all up. I am sure others are of the same opinion.

  2. Hi,

Thanks for your comment. Our goal is to present the websites to the highest standards, whilst ensuring that our commercial partners have the opportunity to advertise.

Side skins are a standard ad integration and can be seen on many leading sports websites on an ongoing basis.

Having said that, we are always looking for ways to best display advertising. Your comments are important to us, so thanks for the feedback and we'll continually look at best practice and making these sites world class.

  3. I agree with 'Anonymous'.

The side banner adverts are too much, it takes away from the content on the actual website, especially because they are animated adverts and this is very distracting.

I don't see why we are given an option to choose the background colour of the site, when the advertisements cover up most of the screen!

Our club was happy with the site before the side banners, and now we are having second thoughts.

  4. Thanks for the feedback - We've had a few comments on this topic and we'll definitely look into this. As before, these are standard ad units, but we'll look into colour and position and how they're activated to see if there's a better alternative.

    Cheers, Andrew

  6. Thanks Mic,

We are looking at every option to make both a sustainable business and to keep our software free for sport - from clubs to National Governing Bodies.

We are getting a littler feedback of late about ads - so, this is something under discussion at SportingPulse at present.

    cheers, andrew

  7. Hi
I've just taken over editing the website for my team, and I am not seeing some of these options in the Admin Panel.
Eg, there is no option under "Customise your website" for "Page Headers" on the admin control panel.
    Am I missing something?

I would like to add my own custom header rather than just a logo on the left hand side.
